That feeling after watching “Justice League (2017)” when…

Your older, very critical sister tells you, “I feel like I didn’t have enough. I want to watch it again”, then tells your parents when you get home that they should watch it, too. (And you’re pleasantly surprised by this because she had been pretty silent sitting next to you.)

Your DC and Marvel fan of an older brother tells you that it was a good movie.

Your workmate, who’s not a DC fan, asks you if you’ve seen the movie and tells you that it was soooo good.

*deep inhale*

*deep exhale*

*grins*

Meanwhile, I’m checking out cinema schedules so I can watch it again.

joons:

“I just don’t understand why Clark wouldn’t just say, ‘Save my mother’ instead of ‘Save Martha.’ The whole thing is just silly.”

Luthor: Martha, Martha, Martha. Well, the mother of a flying demon must be a witch. And the punishment for witches – what is that? That’s right. Death by fire.

Luthor: If you kill me, Martha dies. And if you fly away, Martha also dies. But if you kill the Bat, Martha lives.

Bruce: [with disgust] I bet your parents taught you that you mean something, that you’re here for a reason. My parents taught me a different lesson. Dying in the gutter. For no reason at all.

Clark: Save Martha.

Bruce: Why did you say that name?

Lois: It’s his mother’s name.

These six lines demonstrate the layers needed to get Bruce to his realization. He knows Superman has parents. He is not interested. Luthor knows Superman has a mother and uses her against him, dehumanizing her completely as he does so. Clark begs for Martha to be saved for who she is, not for her relationship to him, since Luthor and Bruce have both made it quite clear that the mother of a flying demon doesn’t matter. Bruce realizes Martha is his mother. Lois – a human, a woman throwing herself in front of a gun/spear to save someone she loves – says “It’s his mother’s name” like it’s the most important thing in the world. And it is. And Bruce is wrong. And he crumples.

You cannot watch BVS and think you can just forget all the dialogue that’s come before and then turn around and claim it doesn’t make sense. It is all right there, you lazybones.

YES.

BATMAN #36

“SUPERFRIENDS” part one! Batman and Superman. For so many years they’ve
fought together for justice. Sometimes, they’ve even fought each other.
Now, from the creators who broke your heart in “The Ballad of Kite Man”
comes a look at how the flaws of each frightens the other and how the
hope in each inspires the other. Don’t miss this two-part event that
everyone will be talking about as the relationship between these two men
is forever changed.

BATMAN #37

“SUPERFRIENDS” part two! The stunning conclusion to the two-part story.
Torn apart by betrayal, Batman and Superman try to find a way back to
friendship, to trust. Both understand that the future of the DCU depends
on this relationship; both understand that without the help of the
other, their lives will fall apart. And yet, one is still the spoiled
rich boy, and the other is still the naive farm boy. Men from two worlds
confront each other and try to see the hope behind the madness.

So, I was checking out the official DC Comics website (to, you know, estimate how much money I’d have to save up for upcoming Rebirth stuff) and found that THE SUPER BROMANCE LIVES ON.

And I just really wanted to share it with ya’ll. Hahaha.

You know what I love?

The four main Robins having very different origin stories, antagonizing each other (almost to literal death) at one point or another, then eventually uniting because of their deep sense of love for and loyalty to Bruce, their mission to save as many innocent lives as they can, and, of course, to each other (whether they admit it or not).

They have so little and so much in common that it makes for such an interesting dynamic every time they share panels. (Regardless of how “horrible” the writing seems.)

I, um, think about this a lot.

I said that and it’s been kind of amplified. I said it in addition to saying that everyone’s is valid and that I like Michael Keaton, I like Christian Bale…I like them all! The one thing Ben Affleck did better than anyone is he got the balance between Batman and Bruce Wayne. There were two personas there and each of the actors have gotten one or the other really good; some people are better as Bruce Wayne, some are better as Batman. Ben Affleck, uniquely I think, was good at both and he did a really good job of it. I just think Ben Affleck got the balance of both characters better than any of them.

My sentiments exactly!

Also, wow. Batman praising Batman. How about that?
